MARINE ATLANTIC NORTH SYDNEY, NOVA SCOTIA AND PORT AUX BASQUES, NEWFOUNDLAND- GUIDE WALLS FENDER UPGRADES-2018


DAVTEC MARINE WERE SELECTED BY MARINE ATLANTIC INC. AND THEIR CONSULTING ENGINEERS, CBCL, TO SUPPLY 66 SHIBATA FENDERTEAM MARINE FENDER SYSTEMS FOR GUIDE WALLS IN PORT AUX BASQUES AND NORTH SYDNEY FERRY TERMINALS. EACH SYSTEM CONSISTED OF TWO EACH SPC 1150 CONE FENDER UNITS AND STEEL FRONTAL PANELS THAT INCORPORATED A DESIGN FOR POINT LOADING OF THE BELTING ON THE DESIGN VESSELS. EACH PANEL WAS 6600MM X 2600MM AND WEIGHED APPROXIMATELY 16 TONNES  TO MEET THE DESIGN CRITERIA. ALSO SUPPLIED WAS THE COMPLETE HARDWARE PACKAGE OF ANCHORS, CHAINS, STEEL SPACERS, AND TENSIONERS, INCLUDING VARIOUS SIZES OF MOUNTING BRACKETS TO ACCOMMODATE FOR VARIANCES ALONG THE QUAY WALLS. THIS WAS THE CHALLENGING ASPECT OF THE PROJECT AND RESULTED IN 21 DIFFERENT DESIGNS FOR 66 SYSTEMS DELIVERED. DAVTEC MARINE ALSO SUPPLIED THE RUBBER ELEMENTS FOR THE BULBOUS BOW STOP FENDERS. ALL SYSTEMS WERE DELIVERED AND INSTALLED ON TIME AND ON BUDGET FOR THE CLIENT WHO ARE VERY SATISFIED WITH THE FINAL INSTALLATION.

DAVTEC MARINE WAS VERY PROUD TO DELIVER SHIBATA FENDERTEAM/MARINE FENDERS INTL. FOAM FILLED MARINE FENDERS TO RIVERSIDE MARINE AND V2V VACATIONS WHO STARTED A VANCOUVER TO VICTORIA CATAMARAN FERRY SERVICE COMMENCING IN APRIL 2017. RIVERSIDE MARINE CONSULTED WITH DAVTEC MARINE ON THE DOCK FENDER SYSTEM AS THEY WERE CONCERNED WITH THE FLOATING PLATFORM’S STANDARD DESIGN HARD RUBBER FENDER SYSTEM. RIVERSIDE’S CONCERN WAS HIGH POINT HULL PRESSURE LOADING TO THEIR VESSEL AND MARKING OF THE RUBBER FENDER UNITS ON THE VESSELS DECORATIVE PAINT SYSTEM. DAVTEC PROPOSED THE SFTA/MFI FOAM FILLED MARINE FENDERS WHICH PROVIDES LOW HULL PRESSURE AND HAS A NON MARKING POLYURETHANE SKIN. AFTER MANY DOCKINGS IN THE FIRST YEAR OF OPERATION THE CUSTOMER IS VERY PLEASED WITH THE OPERATION OF THE FENDERS WITH NO REPORTS OF HULL/DOCK DAMAGE OR DAMAGE TO THE EXPENSIVE HULL PAINT SYSTEM.


SQUAMISH, BC


DAVTEC MARINE WAS PLEASED TO WORK WITH ADVISIAN (DESIGNER) AND FRASER RIVER PILE AND DREDGE (MARINE GENERAL CONTRACTOR) TO ASSIST IN THE FENDER DESIGN AND PROVIDE SHIBATA FENDERTEAM MARINE FENDERS ON THE SQUAMISH TERMINALS EAST DOCK REBUILD. THE ORIGINAL WOOD PILE DOCK, BUILT IN 1972, WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED BY FIRE IN APRIL 2015 AND WAS REPLACED BY A MODERN STEEL AND CONCRETE STRUCTURE BUILT TO THE LATEST INDUSTRY STANDARDS IN 2016. DAVTEC MARINE SUPPLIED 10 EACH FENDER SYSTEMS CONSISTING OF SHIBATA FENDERTEAM SPC 1000 CONE FENDERS, STEEL FRONTAL PANELS, UHMW AND ATTACHMENT HARDWARE. WITH THE COMPLETE DOCK OUT OF SERVICE IT WAS OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE THAT THE FENDER SYSTEMS WERE DELIVERED ON TIME. DAVTEC MARINE IS PROUD TO HAVE PLAYED A PART IN HAVING THE DOCK COMPLETED ON TIME BY ENSURING THAT OUR PRODUCTS WERE DELIVERED ON SCHEDULE.


SUNCOR/HUSKY


ONE OF TWO NORLENSE 1200-R SINGLE POINT INFLATION OFFSHORE OIL BOOMS AS PER THE NORWEGIAN/ NOFO STANDARD. DELIVERED TO OFFSHORE OPERATORS NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR. THESE BOOM SYSTEMS WERE CHOSEN FOR THEIR INHERENT HSE QUALITIES AS THERE IS NO PHYSICAL CONTACT WITH THE OIL BOOM AS IT IS DEPLOYED AND RETRIEVED. DUE TO THEIR ROBUST CONSTRUCTION AND EXCELLENT SEA KEEPING AND OIL CONTAINMENT CHARACTERISTICS, THEY ARE CONSIDERED THE BEST OFFSHORE OIL BOOM SYSTEMS IN THE WORLD. ONE OPERATOR ONLY ON THE SWIVEL WINCH CAN DEPLOY A 400 METER SYSTEM IN LESS THAN 15 MINUTES WHICH SIGNIFICANTLY DECREASES RISK OF INJURY DURING THESE OPERATIONS.


PORT OF MONTREAL


DAVTEC MARINE WAS SELECTED BY THE PORT OF MONTREAL TO PROVIDE SHIBATAFENDERTEAM PNEUMATIC FENDERS FOR A TEMPORARY CRUISE SHIP BERTH IN THE PORT.

DURING THE PORT OF MONTREAL CRUISE TERMINAL REBUILD THE PORT IS UTILIZING A TEMPORARY BERTH FOR THE 2016 CRUISE SEASON. AS SUCH THE PORT NEEDED ADDITIONAL FENDERS TO PROVIDE SAFE BERTHING FOR THE CRUISE SHIPS. AS THE FIRST CRUISE SHIP ARRIVAL WAS IN MID MAY 2016 THE DELIVERY TIME WAS CRUCIAL. DAVTEC MARINE WITH THEIR SUPPLY PARTNER SHIBATAFENDERTEAM DELIVERED THE FENDERS ON TIME AND WERE ON SITE SUPERVISING THE INFLATION OF THE FENDERS TO ENSURE THAT THE PORT WAS ABLE TO MEET THEIR CUSTOMERS’ REQUIREMENTS AND SCHEDULE.


CANADIAN NATIONAL RAIL BARGE FENDER UPGRADE, PRINCE RUPERT, BC


DAVTEC MARINE WAS PLEASED TO PARTNER WITH FRASER RIVER PILE & DREDGE IN THE SUPPLY OF THE MARINE FENDERING AND NAVIGATION LIGHTING SYSTEMS FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE CANADIAN NATIONAL RAILWAY PRINCE RUPERT BARGE TERMINAL (AQUATRAIN FACILITY) LOCATED ON THE WESTERN EDGE OF KAIEN ISLAND IN PRINCE RUPERT HARBOUR, B.C. THE FACILITY IS USED FOR THE SHIPMENT OF VARIOUS TYPES OF PRODUCTS (INCLUDING DIESEL FUEL AND PROPANE) TO ALASKA VIA RAIL CARS. THE WORLEY PARSONS DESIGNED PROJECT INCLUDED THE REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL OF AN AGING TIMBER MOORING WALL AND THE CONSTRUCTION AND INSTALLATION OF FOUR SOCKETED PILE DOLPHINS WITH DAVTEC SUPPLIED FENDERTEAM SPC 1000 CONE FENDER SYSTEMS AND AN AUTOMATIC POWER FA 249LED SKID MOUNTED NAVIGATION LIGHT SYSTEM WITH A RANGE OF 8 NM

DAVTEC MARINE AND OUR SUPPLY PARTNERS SHIBATA FENDERTEAM AND WASHINGTON CHAIN PARTICIPATED IN  A UNIQUE BERTH DESIGNED BY SEABULK, A WORLD LEADER IN SOLUTIONS FOR THE MARINE BULK INDUSTRY, AND BELLINGHAM MARINE, A WORLD RENOWNED MARINE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTOR.
THE SYSTEM IS A VALUE ENGINEERED SOLUTION INTENDED FOR SEF-UNLOADING SHIPS. THE DESIGN USES THE TOP OF THE BANK FOR THE LOAD PATH FOR SHIP BERTHING AND MOORING FORCES; THERE ARE NO MARINE PILES. THE OPPOSING REACTIONS OF BUOYANCY FLOAT DEADWEIGHT AND BUOYANCY KEEP THE MOORING SYSTEM STABLE AND POSITIONED AGAINST THE SHIPS HULL WITHOUT LIFTING IT OUT OF THE WATER OR SINKING IT.
DAVTEC MARINE WORKED CLOSELY WITH SEABULK IN THE DESIGN AND SUBSEQUENT DELIVERIES OF THE FREE STANDING MOORING CAPSTANS, ELEMENT FENDER SYSTEMS AND MOORING FAIRLEADS FOR THE PROJECT.
